About me

I hold a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Alcalá (Spain), specialising in Semantic Web, Machine Learning, and Graph Analysis. My current research focuses on the application of deep learning to medicine, aiming to improve diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

I have published more than 25 scientific articles in JCR-indexed journals (over 20 as first author), co-authored two patents, one national and one European, and received a Research Excellence Recognition (sexenio) for the quality of my scientific output. In 2024, I obtained the accreditation of Associate Professor from ANECA.

My academic career spans the University of Alcalá and Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, where I have participated in national and European research projects and completed research stays at prestigious institutions such as the University of Tokyo (Japan), TU Wien (Austria), TalTech (Estonia), and the University of Málaga (Spain).

As a lecturer, I mainly teach Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence, and regularly supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. My teaching philosophy is to foster active, practical, and innovative learning, connecting students with real-world challenges in data science and artificial intelligence. I currently hold two positive evaluations in the DOCENTIA program.

I serve as a reviewer for high-impact journals such as IEEE Transactions and Knowledge-Based Systems, and as a scientific committee member for international conferences, including ECAI and ASPAI.

I also enjoy music, especially hardcore punk and related genres, along with reading, travelling, and outdoor activities.
